OUR LATEST STORIES & NEWS

year end

As a business owner, are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, exhausted, or a combination of all three now that the end of the year is closing in? It has certainly been an emotional whirlwind of a year. But something that has always helped our clients, regardless of what’s going on around them, is knowing what that next step should be.

So today, we’re sharing the 7 things small business owners should do before closing for the holidays each year.

Year-End Strategies

  1. Establish revenue goals for the coming year. Setting revenue goals helps you direct your business efforts to the right strategies. Checking them off throughout the entire year provides perspective regarding what needs to be done little by little to achieve the larger goal.
  2. Back up your computers. For many people, the only time they think about backing up their computers is after it crashes. You should back your computers using an external hard drive or iCloud backup up at least once a quarter and always at the end of the year. That way you’ll have important records, client information, and files in a safe place in case anything happens to your computer.
  3. Identify the content in your digital marketing strategy that performed the best. Identify which content was most well-liked with your customers in 2021. With this information, you can start planning next year’s digital marketing strategy by working off what performed well.
  4. Update your company’s stats for the end-of-year. Be sure to update whatever metrics and stats you track for your business. This will help when you are making planning decisions for the coming year and provide a good model for any new initiatives.
  5. Collect inspiration for your digital marketing strategy. When identifying what worked best for you this year, start examining what went right for your competitors. This will help you get a better understanding of the marketplace and inspire new ideas
  6. Plan content strategy for the first quarter of next year. Spending time before the year ends to prepare things for the year ahead will make it easier to hit the ground running after the holidays. If you’re working through the holidays, identifying your next steps will help you narrow your focus and battle decision fatigue after the holiday rush.
  7. Conduct an audit of your website. Scroll through your website and read everything with fresh eyes to look for outdated information, broken links, and typos. Then explore your subpages to see if things make sense from a visitor’s perspective.
