  • Make your headline work hard. Your blog has a 2-3 second chance of being looked at, and a compelling headline will make all the difference.
  • Break up banks of text with headings and subheadings. Readers often scan and breaking up text will help them find what they want. Subheadings should be relevant to the content that follows.
  • Use bullets or numbered lists. Bullets act like mini-headlines and help direct the reader to concise, informative points. They help to highlight your most relevant information. And if your heading contains a number like “Top 5 …,” be sure to number those lists.
  • Include images. One picture speaks a thousand words and attracts the eye much better than text. You can increase engagement with photos, videos, graphics and other images – but keep them applicable to your topic.
  • Think SEO. SEO, or search engine optimization, is important to drive traffic to your website. You can boost your SEO ranking by optimizing your blogs. Be sure to add a proper meta title and description, optimize for focus keyword, use related keyword variation and interlink content.
  • Don’t forget a distinct call-to-action. What do you want your readers to do? Make it clear if you want them to comment, share, make an appointment or follow you on social media – and make the action easy to do with prominent links.
