LinkedIn Business and Personal Pages: What’s the Difference?

As a business owner, you probably have a personal LinkedIn page that you are using to further your networking and business opportunities. And if you’re really at the top of your game, you’ve got a LinkedIn page for your business too. But do you need both and what’s the difference?

The short answer is, yes, you need both. Today we’re discussing how they’re different and why you need both.

What’s the difference?

One of the main differences is the content of the pages. Personal pages focus largely on your skills, interests, and expertise. A business page offers information that is more specific to the products and services you offer.

Another difference is how posts from the page act. You can make a post from your personal page, which typically gets lost in the thousands of posts by other individuals, which leads to shorter shelf life.

On the other hand, when you post something to your business page, those posts tend to remain longer because they stand out from those on personal pages. And although content is posted to a business page, it can be still be shared with those you’ve connected with through your personal account, which will boost your visibility.

The last difference is speed. When trying to connect with individuals, you have to wait for them to accept the connection. This can cause a delay in communicating with potential customers. On your business page, customers can begin communicating right away. Ease and speed are key when converting casual customers into dedicated ones.

So, do you need both?

Again, the short answer is yes, you do. A personal LinkedIn page solidifies your authority as a business owner, and helps you create a personal network of connections.

A business page does the same thing, but for your business. It can help establish a brand presence and a voice. It allows people to build a relationship with your brand rather than with another employee or you and helps you position your brand as a leader in your industry.
