Quarantine Self-Care Tips

We hope that you and your loved ones are doing well. What’s important during this time of self-quarantine is to take care of yourself, not just others. So what are some things you can do to treat yourself to some TLC?  Today we’re sharing our favorite ideas.

  • Exercise. There is an entire universe of free yoga classes on YouTube and some teachers are streaming their classes live from home. Go for a run or walk outside, while keeping your distance from others.
  • Limit your online time. Sometimes you just need to step away from electronic devices and the news they deliver.
  • Take a relaxing soak. Make your bath even more special with bubbles, salts, candles, oils, and face masks.
  • Take up a hobby. Do something to occupy your hands – beading, embroidery, woodworking, and crocheting can provide a much-needed release. Check out Pinterest for inspiration!
  • Be thankful. Write down one gratitude a day in a journal or draw other things you’re grateful for in a sketchbook.
  • Bake and cook. In a time of self-imposed isolation, cooking and baking can be a relaxing act of self-care.
  • Organize and de-clutter.  Organize that drawer that has been begging for order, get your filing cabinet back in order, or rearrange some furniture.
  • Watch something happy. It’s quite tempting to catch up on some of your favorite shows right now, but a lot of these shows can be stressful or depressing. Watch a feel-good movie like a comedy or a musical.
  • Curl up with a cozy book. Cozy mysteries without too much violence are a great way to escape. If you don’t have any new ones on hand, check out an audiobook.
  • Learn something new. There is an unlimited number of online classes available whether you want to learn needlepoint or coding.

These tips are about self-care, but humans need community to be happy. Write a letter to a family member, FaceTime with your friends, or get on a video conference with your co-workers. If you’re able to go outside, consider a grocery run for a neighbor.
